Avan Jogia as Stacey Newman | 16 | Open

No shirt, No shoes, Always gettin’ service.

Surfer body and a witty charm, Stacey Newman has always managed to skim on by without any problems. He’s just ‘that guy’ that can do whatever he pleases without any circumstance. Known around town as a resident surfer, Stacey is the last of the original Seaside legends surf trio. His father, his uncle, and grandfather were all known around Florida back in the nineteen eighties as the Surfin’ S Trio -Samuel, Sandy, and his father Simon. After his grandfather passed away, his uncle never felt like surfing and moved away to some rural town in Ohio, while Simon taught his one and only pride and joy everything he knew. Stacey loved the waves and the feeling he got when he would crash into the cold sand below the water. During his childhood, Stacey watched his friends like Alex get bitten by a shark, but he was never phased by it. In Stacey’s eyes, Alex should have been smarter than to just rest in the middle of an ocean. With his deep dark tan and long hair, everyone knew who Stacey was before he could even get his name out when introducing himself. According to his grandmother, he was the spitting image of Sandy, his grandfather.  Which was exactly what Stacey wanted to hear. Not to say Stacey was cocky even from a young age, but he was. If an older lady walked up to him and told him he was cute, he would always reply with something vain - usually, ‘I know’ or ‘Well duh.’ That was something his mother always worried about. She didn’t want people to think her son was some smart ass that needed to get a haircut.

During his freshman year, he and his two best pals Cody and Delilah tried to stick together as best as they could. With Delilah having a big brother like Dalton and Cody being well, shy and timid Cody, Stacey knew that he had his work cut out for him when guys started flirting with his two best girls. Of course, he would never admit his feelings for Delilah or even Cody because he knew his crushes on them both would ruin the trio they had formed so many moons ago. So he did what any best guy friend would do, he went after someone else by the name of Claire Clarke. Immediately everyone knew it would end badly, due to the age gap and Claire’s dignity. She would never date someone like Stacey and of course, she didn’t. Claire wouldn’t even give Stacey the time of day. Stacey gave up before the chase even started and decided to just admit his feelings for both girls and deal with circumstances, but before he could do anything - Delilah got to him first, kissing him at her sixteenth birthday party and telling him how much she wanted to be with him, more than just friends. Stacey knew he had to go with his gut instinct, but he never wanted to hurt Cody. Even though, he did. Because he admitted to Cody how he felt, but then got severely burned when Delilah ended back up with Robin holding her heart. He ended up trying to remain friends with both girls, but knew the friendship would end in the near future.

Now that it’s summer, Stacey just wants to surf with Davey and party on the beach every night, drinking until he forgets his middle name. He wants this summer to actually be different from every other summer he has spent in Seaside. Stacey feels like this summer will be the last summer he can actually enjoy before growing up and going off to college, being someone other that a Newman that surfs in Seaside until the day he dies. He knows that Cody’s secretly crushing on someone, but he doesn’t want to pry and find out, resulting in his heart being broken - even though Delilah’s the one he truly wants deep down inside. So when he starts becoming the summer player, will someone step in and realize they need to be with him and nobody else? Stacey plans on getting the girl in the end, but will he?
